Forest Community Maps at 10 m resolution for Region 9 (FCM10R9)

A series of 10-m maps describing forest communities and attributes in 2021 over Northeastern and Midwestern U.S., or region 9 defined by U.S. Forest Service. The layers include aboveground carbon (AGC; unit: Mg C / ha), total basal area (BA; unit: m^2 / ha), stem density (SD; unit: trees / ha), and species-specific basal area maps for 58 tree species. The maps were created using the AlphaEarth Satellite Embeddings dataset and the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) database. Random forest regression models were applied to produce the maps of aboveground carbon, total basal area, and stem density, while k-neareast-neighbor (k=1) imputation was used to produce the species basal area maps. The maps are clipped for each state. Raster layers, except for the SD layer, were scaled by a factor of 100 and were converted from float to integer for reducing file size.
