Water current and vessel velocity measurements from vessel mounted acoustic doppler current profilers in the South Atlantic Ocean from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Walvis Bay, Namibia on cruise JC275, February - March 2025

This dataset contains eastward and northward water current and vessel velocities measured using vessel mounted Teledyne RDI Ocean Surveyor acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs), one 75 kHz ADCP and one 150 kHz ADCP. The instruments were mounted on board the RRS James Cook during cruise JC275 and recorded from the 21st of February 2025 to the 28th of March 2025. The data cover the South Atlantic Ocean from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to Walvis Bay in Namibia. They were processed using the University of Hawaii Data Acquisition System (UHDAS) Common Oceanographic Data Access System (CODAS) software. These data were funded under NERC Discovery Science grant NE/X013758/1 titled "Enhanced carbon export driven by internal tides over the mid-Atlantic ridge (CarTRidge)".
