VPRS 18876 Tide Gauge Readings

This series comprises graphically-depicted tide gauge readings generated by a digital recorder. The series shows readings from Stony Point. This series consists of two bundles of records. Each bundle contains several loose sheets of printed paper with the readings represented graphically, as well as an accompanying table for each graph showing the readings represented numerically. The readings were taken approximately weekly, and contain the time and date, height of the tide on the gauge, water level on the tide staff, and some brief remarks.  A tide gauge is a piece of equipment that continuously records the height of the water level around it. It is usually just one piece of a water level monitoring station. Water level monitoring is important for various marine activities, such as safe navigation and environmental research. Both bundles of records cover the same time period of 1991 to 1994, and the same area of Stony Point.  These records were transferred to PROV from the Queenscliffe Maritime Museum.
