Replication data for: Blending gestation and lactation diets during the transition period reduces energy mobilization by sows in late gestation, with no impact on subsequent lactation performance

The transition period for sows embodies significant changes in nutrient and energy requirements for fetal and mammary growth, colostrum and milk production. This dataset contains lactation performance data and blood metabolite concentrations for first and multiparous sows fed a conventional (abrupt change from gestation to lactation diet upon movement to the farrowing room) or a transition (dynamic blend of standard gestation and lactation diets to meet estimated daily lysine and energy requirements) feeding program.
