Human colon- and ileum-associated microbiota Metagenome

In the present study we aimed to analyze the expression of metabolite-sensing GPCRs, to quantify the levels of the metabolites which can selective activate those GPCRs and to characterize the mucosa-associated microbiota in surgical resections from both UC and CD patients. Finally, in order to assess whether there is a crosstalk between the intestinal microbiota and the metabolites, we have also correlated the levels of those metabolites with the levels of the bacterial species identified in the surgical specimens.
