During the cable qualification assessment process, the non-circularity of copper wires is a critical criterion. Non-circularity is an indicator measuring the out-of-roundness of cylindrical or circular objects, and it directly affects the performance and reliability of cables. Detecting the non-circularity of various types of cables helps enterprises monitor production conditions, ensure product quality, and proactively avoid potential social safety hazards caused by unqualified products. Additionally, it can be used to verify whether the hardness and flexibility of raw materials from steel manufacturers meet procurement requirements, evaluate raw material suppliers, provide references for enterprises to select appropriate suppliers, and offer a basis for government quality supervision. For sampling inspection of different cables, six measurement points on the same cross-section are selected, and the measured diameters of the copper wires are recorded. The difference between the maximum (A) and minimum (B) values is defined as the non-circularity F value. The standard non-circularity value for copper wires of each cable type is calculated as 0.01 multiplied by the nominal diameter. If the measured non-circularity f is less than or equal to the standard value, the non-circularity of the copper wire is deemed qualified. Based on the calculation results, it is determined whether the non-circularity of the copper wires in the cables meets the specified standards, which assists enterprises in controlling finished product quality and selecting suitable raw material suppliers.
