These files comprise both functional and administrative matters which collectively reflect the administration of the State's bush fire fighting services and to some degree, the operations carried out in areas experiencing major bush fires. The subject matter includes: government funding; policy; reports and evaluations of situations (eg. Blue Mountains fires 1977); investigations and arson detection; Co-ordinating Committee reports; bush fire seasonal reports, c.1977-84; fire prevention; conservation issues; use of aircraft in fire fighting; coronial inquiries involving fatalities among firefighters; police reports; press and media statements; and reports on the administration of Bush Fire Brigades throughout New South Wales. Although a separate organisation, the General files of the Bush Fire Council are registered within the correspondence of the State Emergency Services which also contains much information on the State's bush fire fighting services and operations.
