The study of epigenetic regulation in the long-term memory (LTM) formation is one of the relevant tasks of neurobiology. Mollusks represent one of the most popular objects for studying LTM. We use Helix lucorum as a model for LTM formation research. It has been shown that the epigenetic modifications of histones are involved in the formation of this reflex, both in the activator and inhibitory sites. It is known that microRNAs (miRNAs) also negatively regulate expression of genes. However, its role in formation of LTM remains unknown. The goal of this study is identification of miRNAs isolated from Helix lucorum central nervous system. This work was performed by Vasilyev G.V., Ovchinnikov V.Y. (The Federal Research Center Institute of Cytology and Genetics SB RAS) and Grinkevich L.N. (The Federal State Budget Scientific Institution Pavlov Institute of Physiology, Russian Academy of Sciences).
