SUM4Re: FOS steel beam dataset

This dataset contains the experimental data acquired from Beam 1 during fibre-optic sensor (FOS) testing conducted at the Jolastokieta pilot site in the Basque Country, Spain, within the SUM4Re project. Beam 1 is a reclaimed steel I-section member recovered from a former industrial building, where it formed part of an overhead-crane supporting structure. Four fibre-optic strain sensors were installed at distributed locations along the lower flange of the beam. Controlled static loading sequences were applied at three loading positions, with the applied forces recorded using load cells, allowing the strain response to be characterised under different load distributions and magnitudes. The testing programme considered different boundary-condition configurations to evaluate the influence of the supports and structural restraints. Tests were performed both with the removable props in place and after their removal, while the beam-end connections to the supporting plates were maintained. The dataset enables direct comparison of the measured response under these configurations and provides an experimental basis for finite element model calibration and validation. The results contribute to the hybrid experimental–numerical assessment of reclaimed structural components and their potential reuse within the circular construction framework addressed by SUM4Re.
