Description: This dataset contains the sequences and phylogenetic trees associated with the study of Ceratium species distribution and phylogeny. The data includes: Ceratium_sequences_metadata.csv: A comprehensive table including Ceratium sequences retrieved from public databases (e.g., GenBank/NCBI/ENA) and novel sequences provided by the authors. The file includes associated metadata such as geographic coordinates, reference paper, accession ID, and taxonomic classification. Ceratium_full_phylogeny.newick: A phylogenetic tree constructed using the complete set of sequences from the curated database. Ceratium_reduced_phylogeny_59.newick: A subset of the phylogenetic tree featuring 59 selected sequences, optimized for clarity and representative analysis of key clades. Methods: Sequences were processed and aligned using MAFFT version 7.453 (Katoh & Standley, 2013). Phylogenetic reconstruction was performed using RAxML-ng v1.2.0 (Kozlov et al., 2019) under the GTR+G+I model, previously selected with ModelTest-NG v0.1.5.
