The data originates in the 2006 fieldwork among the Ariaal people in northern Kenya under approvals by the institutional review boards of the University of Washington and Kenya Medical Research Institute. The lactoferrin concentration in milk was determined more recently using de-identified milk specimens, and as such required no further approvals.
