Daily sampling of the vaginal microbiome of a cohort of enrollees who either developed incident bacterial vaginosis (BV) over a 90 day study period or matched controls who did not develop incident BV during the study. The goal of this study was to investigate changes in the vaginal microbiome leading up to incident BV diagnosis and whether gardnerella vaginalis abundance rises precipitously prior to development of BV.
