NRS-19755 | Register of Sheep Brands and Marks Record [Wagga Wagga Pastures Protection Board]

This series is comprised of volumes recording people who have registered to use particular brands and earmarks for their livestock, in this case, sheep, within the Wagga Wagga Sheep District, and later with the Wagga Wagga Pastures Protection Board.The Pastures Protection Act of 1902 (Act No.111, s.124) states: "Each district inspector shall keep a book in the form directed by the chief inspector to be called the "sheep brands and marks record" for the entry of all owners, brands, and marks allotted by him, and also of all distinctive marks as aforesaid which any sheep owner may desire to record."The registers contain an alphabetical index which lists the name of the person registering the brand or earmark and progressive number of the registration as recorded in the register. The pages following the index have the following information, divided into columns: Progressive number; Date of Registration; Name of Owner; Address (Including Name of Station and Post Town); Number of sheep at date of Registration; Brand with description and position for both tar and fire brands; Earmark; Distinctive Marks, Amount of Fees for Gazette, Brand, Earmark, Distinctive Marks and Total.

1902年《牧场保护法》（The Pastures Protection Act of 1902，第111号法令，第124条）明确规定：“各区域督察须按照总督察指定的格式，备妥一本命名为‘绵羊烙印与标识登记簿’（sheep brands and marks record）的台账，用于登记所有所有者信息、督察核定的烙印与标识，以及绵羊所有者希望备案的各类前述专属标识。”

该登记簿设有按字母顺序编排的索引栏，列明烙印或耳标登记人的姓名，以及登记簿中记载的登记流水号。

索引后的登记页面包含以下分栏信息：流水号、登记日期、所有者姓名、住址（含牧场名称与邮政城镇）、登记时的绵羊存栏数量、焦油烙印与火烙印的样式及烙印位置、耳标、专属标识，以及政府公报（Gazette）办理费、烙印办理费、耳标办理费、专属标识办理费及总费用金额。
