Seafloor reflectivity of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge Rainbow region (35°45' - 36°35'N) (2016)

The grid file contains a processed compilation of seafloor reflectivity of the Rainbow region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (35º45'-36º35'N). It includes the sonar backscatter amplitude data from the hull-mounted multibeam sonar system collected during the MARINER survey (MGL1305), which consisted of closely-spaced survey lines and multifold coverage of the seafloor with a variety of seafloor incidence angles and look directions. After correcting for attenuation and seafloor slope, and filtering out noise, the data were merged into a gridded compilation of seafloor reflectivity (see Eason et al., 2016 for detailed description of methods). The netCDF format grid file is suitable for plotting with GMT or similar.
