Eve at The Petit Palais, Paris

Eve is an early piece of work by sculptor Aimé-Jules Dalou (Paris, 1838-1902), notably known for his public monuments. He took heavy influence from Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (11 May 1827 – 12 October 1875) mentioned here, Eve is represented as a graceful adolescent, kneeling in a pose similar to 'Pecheur a la coquille' (also by Jules Dalou, also uploaded to Scan The World from The Petit Palais). The snake crawling up the side of ther leg justifies the biblical title, signifying the charming of the girl. This object is part of Scan The World.
