Aeromonas hydrophila is a pathogenic bacterium that has been implicated in fish, animal, and human disease. In aquaculture, the therapeutic options for the treatment of A. hydrophila infection were only limited to several antibiotics, which contributed for the fast-speed emergence of drug tolerance. A pathogenic strain (A. hydrophila AH10) in grass carp was identified and found to be sensitive to many conventional antibiotics. Five resistant mutants of AH10 strain were further selected by using high concentrations of doxycycline. In this study, we sequenced whole genomes of these strains. Comparative genome analysis of those strains will help us to identify changes in copy number or SNP types among genes implicated in drug resistance and other important phenotypes that may have a potential role in drug treatment outcomes.
