E__coli_in_humans_and_farm_animals_in_Vietnam

Escherichia coli is one of the most common clinical pathogens and is capable of causing a spectrum of disease both in humans and animals. However, only a small number of clinical strains of E. coli in Vietnam have been sequenced, and knowledge on high-resolution molecular relationship with other E. coli remains incomplete. In this study, we aim to perform a large-scale whole-genome sequencing study to investigate the genetic relatedness of E. coli isolated from patients, farmers and animals in Vietnam. We will examine the genomic population structure of the E. coli in clinical setting and investigate potential sharing of virulence genes as well as antimicrobial resistance genes between E. coli isolated from different sources.
