Dataset (N=3,639,166) derived from all expenditures reported to the FEC between 2004 and 2020. Each observation is a unique combination of committee, candidate, payee, purpose, and cycle. Expenditures are classified into nine categories: media, digital, polling, legal, field, consulting, fundraising, travel, and administrative.<br><br>For a discussion of the classification model used to categorize expenditures, see the Appendix in Sheingate et al. 2022.
