A Fish Category Classification is a legal classification of watercourses and water bodies according to the dominant groups of fish.Article L.436-5 of the Environmental Code defines the concept of classification of Fish Category.The concepts of public/privacy and fishing permitted or not are not relevant in this division. This division also does not concern closed waters or fish farms.The founding regulatory text of a Fish Category Classification is the decree taken by the prefect of the department.-1st category: waters mainly populated by trout, as well as waters where special protection of fish of this species appears desirable. all other waters subject to the provisions of the Order.

鱼类类别分类（Fish Category Classification）是依据水域内优势鱼类类群对河道与水体开展的法定分类。《环境法典》第L.436-5条对鱼类类别分类的概念作出了明确定义。公共/私有属性以及捕捞许可与否的相关概念，在本分类体系中均不具备适用性。本分类体系亦不涵盖封闭水域或水产养殖场。鱼类类别分类的法定设立依据为各省省长颁布的政令。第一类别：主要栖息有鳟鱼的水域，以及被认为需要对该物种鱼类实施特殊保护的水域。其余所有水体均需遵循本政令的相关规定。
