Metagenomic analysis of a viral lysis event near the Toledo water treatment plant intake site

In early August 2019, we recorded an lysis event of a Microcystis aeruginosa dominated harmful algal bloom, as measured by an increase in dissolved microcystin toxin concentrations. Samples were taken daily during the event, allowing for metagenomic sequencing of two sites (the water intake valve and the surge well) on August 2. This data lead to the discovery of a novel Microcystis cyanophage.
