The dataset contains voltage recordings of pressure sensors in a low-cost C2H2-O2 combustion driver targeting low-enthalpy conditions. First experiments were conducted with an isolated combustion driver section varying the number of spark plugs. For the chosen single burst diaphragm opening mechanism, it was hypothesized that small imperfections in the diaphragm scribe depth can lead to significantly different shock tube processes, which was disproven by performing experiments with diaphragms of intentionally slightly different scribe depths. The influence of driver temperature inhomogeneities inherent to the combustion in closed vessels was assessed in a set of experiments with a varying number of spark plugs. A pressure drop immediately after shock reflection could be correlated to inhomogeneous driver temperature distribution. To compensate for this effect and optimize the available test time to approximately 5.5 ms, further experiments were carried out at undertailored conditions and the repeatability of the found conditions was shown for a set of eight experiments. Finally, the combustion driver was compared to conventional helium drivers. The metadata and raw data are provided as human- and machine-readable .json files and contain all information necessary for post-processing. Post-processing files, which were used to create the figures in the corresponding journal publication, are included as MATLAB-scripts.
