Of caterpillars and yeasts: Introducing a new model system for the study of fungal virulence

This is my #ISHAM2015 talk on our recent efforts and advances in developing caterpillars of the Tobacco Hornworm (Manduca sexta) as a novel model system for Candida albicans infections. We are using animals raised at Bath's inbreeding M. sexta colony. While these are normaly considered a plant pest, they have been employed extensively as model systems for bacterial infections but never fungal infections. Which is what we are aiming to set up.
