China County-Level Water Availability Anomalies Dataset (CCWAAD)

This dataset provides monthly hydro-meteorological indicators and standardized anomaly metrics for all counties within the study region from 2009 to 2024. The data are derived from the TerraClimate dataset and aggregated spatially to county boundaries using mean values. The dataset includes key variables describing precipitation, runoff, and climatic water balance (CWB), along with standardized anomalies that measure deviations from long-term climatological normals.Hydro-meteorological variables—precipitation (pr), runoff (ro), and climatic water balance (cwb)—represent monthly environmental conditions expressed in millimeters per month. The anomaly metrics (pr_anomaly, ro_anomaly, and cwb_anomaly) quantify the relative deviation of each variable from its expected value for a given month, based on a 30-year rolling baseline. These standardized anomalies allow for the detection and comparison of unusual wet or dry conditions over space and time.Each record corresponds to a unique county–month–year combination, identified using a county administrative code. The dataset is suitable for climatological analysis, hydrological modeling, drought and flood assessment, and socio-environmental impact studies at the sub-regional level.
