A Global Typical Meteorological Year Database on ERA5 Dataset

A global typical meteorological year (TMY) database covers 38,947 stations worldwide. Each typical meteorological year data file includes dry-bulb temperature (°C) and absolute humidity (g/kg air), dew point (°C), direct normal irradiance (W/m2), diffuse horizontal irradiance (W/m2), global horizontal irradiance (W/m2), pressure (Mbar), wind direction, wind speed (m/s), etc. at 1-hour intervals. The data is created with Chinese Standard Weather Database method to reflect the average level of historical weather based on the fifth-generation atmospheric reanalysis product released by the European Center (ERA5). The dataset is saved in a 55 GB database of compressed CSV files and uploaded to a website where users can obtain the required TMY data for certain cities according to the longitude and latitude information. This TMY-ERA5 dataset is fundamental and essential in building system designs of international construction projects, building performance simulation, etc. especially for some countries lacking ground meteorological stations or missing meteorological year data in the building profession. It can be used as references for other meteorological climate studies.
全球典型气象年(Typical Meteorological Year, TMY)数据库覆盖全球38947个气象站点。每份典型气象年数据文件包含逐小时分辨率的以下气象参数:干球温度(℃)、绝对湿度(g/kg干空气)、露点温度(℃)、直接法向辐照度(W/m²)、水平散射辐照度(W/m²)、水平总辐照度(W/m²)、气压(毫巴)、风向及风速(m/s)等。该数据集采用中国标准气象数据库构建方法,基于欧洲中心发布的第五代大气再分析产品(ERA5),以反映历史气象条件的平均水平。本数据集以总容量达55GB的压缩CSV文件数据库形式存储,已上传至公开网站,用户可通过经纬度信息获取指定城市所需的典型气象年数据。本TMY-ERA5数据集在国际建筑项目的建筑系统设计、建筑性能模拟等领域具有基础性与不可或缺的重要价值,尤其适用于缺乏地面气象站点,或建筑行业内缺失气象年数据的国家。此外,该数据集亦可作为其他气象气候研究的参考依据。
