Geospatially distributed European hydrogen demand 2050

This dataset contains geospatially specific, GIS-compatible nodes with simulated hourly hydrogen demand, under five different scenarios of the energy transition in transportation. Data is simulated for all of Europe in 2050, for the scientific paper "Consequences of large-scale hydrogen use in Europe", where scenarios and methods are described. Data includes road nodes from Speth et. al. 2022 (10.1016/j.dib.2021.107786), for connecting hydrogen demand nodes, truck stops from Link and Speth 2024 (10.1016/j.dib.2024.110277), ports and airports from ETISplus, Szimba et. al. 2013 (10.13140/RG.2.2.16768.25605), steel plants from Global Energy Monitor 2024 ( https://globalenergymonitor.org/projects/global-steel-plant-tracker/ ), high-value-chemicals plants from Neuwirth et. al. 2024 (10.1016/j.enconman.2024.119117), and ammonia plants from several sources listed in the paper. Simulation was performed with code provided in Löfving 2025 (10.5281/zenodo.15223366). Hydrogen demand values given in kWh.
