Wuppertal ATOM Feed Schools

The ATOM Feed Download Service for Schools in Wuppertal provides a dataset for download, which includes the inventory data on the school locations of all institutions in the Wuppertal city area (as of 03/2021 a total of 128 school locations) including private, educational and vocational schools. For schools that reside in several geographically separated locations (e.g. Berufskolleg Barmen), the dataset for each of these locations contains an independent entry with its own ID. The organisational affiliation of such sites can only be read at the occupancy of the attribute “Name”. The origin of the dataset is a merging and georeferencing of several data sets for the Wuppertal Schools in 2012. The reason for this work was the derivation of space around the schools, which must be taken into account when authorising the operation of gambling halls and betting offices. The actually area-like school locations were digitised based on their addresses as point geometries. For each school location, the data set contains the name of the school, its address, the school type, the carrier category (private or city) and — as far as this information is available at the Wuppertal City Administration — also the number of pupils and a hyperlink to the school’s homepage. For the urban primary schools, a hyperlink to the PDF school path map issued by the city is provided. If necessary, the database is updated by Team 102.3201 “City Cartography” with a specific subsystem of the Web-GIS “Wuppertal Navigation and Data Management System Wunda”. (Wunda is a cross-thematic, web-based geoinformation system on the intranet of the city of Wuppertal.) The number of pupils is updated annually on the basis of the annual school statistics requested by the department 206 “Schools”. The update of the data accessed by the download service is carried out every week in a fixed turn.
