MangroveWatch Coastal Habitat Assessment & Monitoring Portal (CHAMP)

The project strategy is called the Coastal Health Archive and Monitoring Program (CHAMP). High resolution panolapse imagery & overlapping images with continuous views of the intertidal shorelines of Australasia. This category of ShoreView data includes - small vessel estuarine and shoreline imagery - the extent has been around 2000 km in total from multiple sites around the country. For example, surveys have been undertaken from 8 Southern GBR estuaries between Gladstone and Hervey Bay. Data has been collected under the supervision of JCU researchers by numerous community groups, as community volunteers, and by indigenous ranger teams.
Primary assessment of imagery includes: coordinate location of each image, the assignment of categories of ecosystem type, structure like tree height, condition, and the types and severity of processes observed like trees damaged by storms, fire, weeds, livestock, erosion. Further assessment includes apportioning these categories for specific estuarine sections, and ranking conditions for summary in regional reporting frameworks. The software required for uploading, processing and assessment of data is in development.

本项目的实施策略命名为海岸健康档案与监测计划（Coastal Health Archive and Monitoring Program，CHAMP）。其数据包含高分辨率全景延时影像与可连续覆盖澳大拉西亚潮间带海岸线的重叠影像。该类ShoreView数据包括小型船舶拍摄的河口与海岸线影像，数据覆盖范围总计约2000公里，采集自澳大拉西亚境内的多个观测站点。例如，项目已针对格拉德斯通与赫维湾之间的8个南大堡礁（Great Barrier Reef，GBR）河口开展了调查工作。该数据集由众多社区团体（以社区志愿者身份）、原住民管护团队，在詹姆斯·库克大学（James Cook University，JCU）研究人员的监督下完成采集。影像的初步评估内容包括：每张影像的坐标定位、生态系统类型分类赋值、相关结构参数（如树木高度）、健康状况，以及观测到的各类扰动过程及其严重程度——例如风暴、火灾、杂草入侵、牲畜活动与侵蚀造成的树木受损情况。后续评估工作则包括为特定河口区段分配上述分类结果，并依据各区域的报告编制框架对健康状况进行分级汇总。用于数据上传、处理与评估的配套软件目前仍处于开发阶段。
