TCE degradation performance of different consortia originated from these sites was studied in situ and ex situ. Four site samples, and five batch trials were used to determine this. TCE analytical measurements did not display any chlorinated compound as a by-product in any sample, and all the samples exhibited different potentials to degrade TCE. Amplicon-based metagenomic analyses unveiled the ubiquitous presence of various members of the Rhodocyclaceae family in all the nine samples. Shotgun metagenomics were used to assemble two metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from the nine samples.
