Environmental Regulation- Inland shipping ban on degassing surfaces

This surface stock contains the prohibition of degassing on water. This is a ban on the degassing of residual cargo vapours of benzene and certain benzene containing hydrocarbons on a fairway, from a cargo tank of an inland vessel. This connects to corresponding regulations of other provinces. The scheme presupposes a definitive regime for the environmental hygiene aspects of degassing at international level. This part of the environmental regulation is therefore temporary and will expire with the establishment of an international regulation and resulting national legislation.
