Hyperspectral Imaging Data of shredded Plastic Waste

The data was generated in 2023 as part of the research project (funding code: KK5068029GR1) "Optimized color control in plastics recycling" funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action. In the recycling process, small pieces of used plastic of different colors, called flakes, are mixed and melted to create regranulate, which in turn can be used to make new plastic products. The goal of the project was to create and train an AI system that could predict the color of the regranulate based on the color content of the input flakes. Therefore, a Hyperspectral Imaging camera was used to take measurements of the plastic flakes to collect all color information.
