NIOZ EMOWAD Cruises 1986

The fourth extensive inventory of the demersal fish fauna of the western part of the Dutch Wadden Sea by NIOZ took place in 1986 as part of the EMOWAD project. The aim of the EMOWAD (Ecological Model Wadden Sea) project, was to study the applicability to the western Dutch Wadden Sea of an ecosystem model developed for the Ems estuary. In addition to a modelling exercise, extensive field and laboratory research, including epibenthic fish surveys, was carried out in the period 1986-1987 for model validation. Monthly demersal fish survey were carried out in the intertidal, subtidal and tidal gullies in 1986 alternating in the Marsdiep and Vlie basin of the western Dutch Wadden Sea. Sampling took place with rubber dinghies in the intertidal and in deeper waters with RV Navicula, launched in 1981 as successor of RV Eider and Ephyra. In contrast to the previous survey by RV Ephyra, fishing was done with beam trawls again. All the fish were identified and measured on board. The programme lasted for a year covering the year 1986.荷兰海洋研究所（NIOZ）于1986年开展荷兰瓦登海西部海域底栖鱼类动物群（demersal fish fauna）的第四次全面普查，该工作系EMOWAD（瓦登海生态模型，Ecological Model Wadden Sea）项目的组成部分。该项目的核心目标是，评估针对埃姆斯河口开发的生态模型在荷兰瓦登海西部海域的适用性。除模型构建工作外，项目团队还于1986-1987年间开展了包括底上鱼类（epibenthic fish）调查在内的大规模野外与实验室研究，以完成模型验证（model validation）。1986年，研究团队在荷兰瓦登海西部的马斯迪普水道（Marsdiep）与弗利盆地（Vlie basin）间轮换布设采样站点，于潮间带、潮下带及潮汐水道中逐月开展底栖鱼类普查。其中，潮间带采样使用橡皮艇完成，深水区采样则搭载1981年下水、作为“艾德尔号”（RV Eider）与“埃菲拉号”（RV Ephyra）继任者的“纳维库拉号研究船（RV Navicula）”完成。与此前由“埃菲拉号”主导的调查不同，本次普查再次采用桁杆拖网（beam trawls）进行采样。所有捕获的鱼类均在船上完成种类鉴定与体长测量。本次普查项目周期为一整年，覆盖整个1986年。
