Relationship between sarcopenia and diet based on analysis of gut microbiota in the elderly

Sarcopenia affects healthy life expectancy, but its prevention and causes remain unclear. Kyotango area is known as one of the healthiest and longest-lived regions in Japan. In this study, fecal samples of elderly people in the Kyotango area were collected and the composition of gut microbiota was examined from amplicon sequencing analysis using Qiime2. Then, we examined the relationship between sarcopenia, dietary habits, and gut microbiota in feces.
