Root microbiota and metabolome of Pinus pinaster trees affected by decline

Pinus pinaster is a valuable species due to its adaptive response to severe and frequent droughts. In spite of its resilience, Pinus pinaster stands are suffering worrying episodes of forest decline. In this study we analyzed the structure and taxonomic profiles of root-associated microbiota (fungi and bacteria inhabiting in the rhizosphere and root endosphere) of P. pinaster trees affected by pine decline and healthy pines. Moreover, we analyzed the rhizosphere and root metabolome in order to address the changes that take place in the context of forest decline. We also coupled both types of data.
