De novo transcriptome analysis of adventitious roots of Arnebia euchroma

Arnebia euchroma is an endangered Himalayan plant which is rich in red coloured pigment known as shikonins. These shikonins are widely used in the food industry for their red colour as well as diverse medicinal properties. These are also used in hair oils and other related formulations. Thus the present study was aimed for understanding the mechanism involved in the development of adventitious roots from leaves which are an alternative route for the production of these high-value shikonins.
