Integrated serum metabolomics and placental transcriptomics reveals a critical role of steroid hormone metabolic pathways in advanced maternal aged threatened abortion

The number of pregnant women of advanced maternal age (over 35 years) has been steadily increasing, accompanied by a marked rise in the incidence of threatened abortion (AMA-TA); however, its molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. Multi-omics technologies provide a systematic approach to unraveling the pathogenesis of complex diseases. Therefore, this study integrates untargeted metabolomics of human serum with transcriptomics of mouse placenta to explore the potential mechanisms underlying AMA-TA.
