Metagenome NS-PAH-2015-PNP-5 was collected from petroleum contaminated water near IOCL refinery, Panipat, India. Further enriched and maintained over minimal salt media containing phenanthrene as sole carbon source. Quantifying chromatographic technique revealed NS-PAH-2015-PNP-5 as an potent phenanthrene degrading consortium and its diversity was identified using Illumina based Miseq 2 X 300 bp NGS platform.
