Marine bird sighting and other data from the BURTON ISLAND and other platforms as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP) from 30 July 1975 to 12 August 1978 (NODC Accession 7800157)

Marine bird sighting and other data were collected from the BURTON ISLAND and other platforms from 30 July 1975 to 12 August 1978. Data were collected by the Point Reyes Bird Observatory (PRBO) as part of the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F033 Marine Bird Sighting, Ship/Aircraft Census format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/. The F033 format contains data from field observations of marine birds made along ship or aircraft survey tracks. These data are collected to provide information on population density and distribution. Start and end position, date and elapsed time, speed and course, platform type and observing techniques are reported for each survey. Environmental information may include meteorological and sea surface conditions, distances to the shoreline and shelf break, ice characteristics within and outside each transect and surface debris, including oil slicks. Species data may include age, sex, color, plumage, number of individuals, direction of flight, behavior and food source association. Any number of species may be reported within one observation time span.

F033格式收录了沿船舶或航空器调查航线开展的海洋鸟类野外观测数据。采集此类数据旨在获取海洋鸟类的种群密度与分布情况相关信息。每份调查均会记录起止位置、日期、耗时、航速与航向、观测平台类型及观测技术手段。环境信息可涵盖气象与海表状况、距海岸线及陆架坡折的距离、每个样带内外的冰情特征，以及包括浮油在内的表面漂浮物情况。物种相关数据可包含鸟类的年龄、性别、体色、羽饰、个体数量、飞行方向、行为模式及与食物源的关联信息。单次观测时段内可记录任意数量的物种观测结果。
