A cabinet studio portrait of a mother and her four children, James B. Blanchard, Los Angeles, circa 1890s. The woman and her youngest child sit while the eldest, a daughter, stands at right, and two boys, perhaps twins, are at the left. The boys wear dark suits and boots and white shirts, the older daughter has a light dress with dark detailing, as well as earrings and a brooch, the youngest child has a light-colored dress with a ruffled hem and sleeves, and the mother wears a light-colored dress with a white collar and front and ruffled hems. With some very small stains on the photo and minimal soiling and rubbing, the condition is good.
