Freshwater Mitochondrial Atlas (FMA) - Associated mitochondrial genomes

This repository contains 19'925 zipped mitochondrial genomes (Mitochondria.tar.gz) as well as the 3,727 Representatives (Mitochondria_Representatives.tar.gz) recovered from metagenomic datasets (n = 3,400 metagenomes). These genomes will soon be uploaded to the European Nucleotide Archive (ENA). Each mitochondrial genome is accompanied by a manifest text file (Manifests.tar.gz), as well as for the representatives files (Manifests_Representatives.tar.gz) detailing the sequencing technology and assembly algorithm used for its reconstruction. The phylogenetic reconstruction used on Main Figure 4 is now present within this repository (PMSF_C60_from_LGFR10_rmfast10.treefile). Reference mitochondrial genomes are renamed and contain a taxonomic string. Note: Each mitochondrial genome contains a dummy contig for technical reasons. Submissions should include only one contig per mitochondrial genome.
