Draft genome of Korthalsia laciniosa (Griff.) Mart.

Rattan includes a major group of palms belonging to subfamily Calamoideae under Arecaceae family. K. laciniosa is a climbing rattan and one of the most widely distributed species and a source of durable and flexible cane. The whole genome sequencing from leaf DNA was conducted using Illumina NovaSeq using 150 bp paired-end chemistry. .De novo assembly was done in GATB-Minia pipeline and gene prediction was conducted using a combined approach of both homology based and de novo strategy. The plastome was re-constructed to resolve the phylogenetic ambiguity existing in this genus. This draft genome will facilitate cataloguing of genome-wide markers for population assessment and identification of diversity hotspots of the species.
