16S rRNA metabarcoding of copper sulfide leaching microbial consortia. Leaching microbial consortia

We performed the physiological and molecular characterization of copper sulfide leaching microbial psychrotolerant microbial consortia isolated from acid mine drainage from four mining localities in the province of Pasco and Huarochiri - Peru, located above 4200 m a.s.l. Six consortia were isolated. Six consortia were isolated, which according to the molecular analysis based on the sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene of the bacterial community, showed that they are dominated by the genus Acidithiobacillus, followed by Acidiphilium. In conclusion, consortia were obtained that can be applied in copper bioleaching in high Andean mining.
