收藏资源简介:
This dataset accompanies the study "Institutional Resilience and Democratic Stability: A Comparative Analysis of Sweden and the United States (1950–2020)."It provides the full data, replication code, and output figures used to analyze structural breaks in democratic governance quality across Sweden and the United States over a seventy-year period. Included files: Data-GDP.xlsx: GDP per capita data for Sweden and the United States. Data-Polity5.xls: Polity5 democracy scores (Polity2) for all countries, filtered for study countries. Data-V-Dem.csv: Selected V-Dem democracy indicators for robustness analysis. Watergate.ipynb: Python 3 notebook performing structural break detection (Pelt method) and Difference-in-Differences (DiD) regression modeling. Figures 1–8 (.png): Visualization outputs showing stationarity tests, governance trends, and detected structural breaks for both countries. README.pdf: Full instructions for replicating the study in Google Colab, including file upload and execution steps. Study Summary:The research evaluates institutional stability and resilience in Sweden and the United States from 1950 to 2020. Using stationarity testing, structural break analysis, and DiD estimation, the study finds that Sweden maintains democratic stability without major disruptions, whereas the United States experiences lasting governance shocks around the Watergate scandal (1975) and post-2015 polarization. The findings highlight the importance of institutional robustness in weathering political crises. Replication:All data and code are prepared for seamless upload into Google Colab for full public replication and further extension.
