An investigation of a spill from a leaking underground pipeline carrying diesel (JP8 jet fuel) from storage tanks to Scott Base was conducted during the 2000-2001 season by digging a number of holes with a jack hammer in the areas of the spill. Soil samples from the soil surface to a depth of 40 cm were collected for analysis.
