Loggerhead Turtles: Bald Head Island 2003

This project aims to find out more about the at-sea behaviour of loggerhead sea turtles following nesting on the beaches of Bald Head Island, North Carolina. We deployed 4 satellite transmitters or Platform Terminal Transmitters (PTTs) on loggerhead sea turtles in July 2003. This has allowed us to track the long distance movements of these turtles and has given insights into migratory and foraging behaviour.

本项目旨在深入研究北卡罗来纳州鲍德黑德岛（Bald Head Island）海滩筑巢后的蠵龟（loggerhead sea turtle）海上行为模式。我们于2003年7月为该类海龟部署了4台卫星发射机，即平台终端发射机（Platform Terminal Transmitters，缩写PTT）。此举使我们得以追踪这些蠵龟的长距离移动轨迹，并为其洄游与觅食行为研究提供了重要见解。
