Red-Legged Frog Study

The objectives of this study were to determine: 1) if female red-legged frogs lay multiple egg masses each breeding season, 2)determine the frequency of mating in male red-legged frogs, and 3)determine temporal and spatial pattern of egg laying in females. This study occurs every winter during breeding season on pond inside reserve. Frogs are caught and tagged with PIT tags, and egg cases are counted. Future work includes radio tagging individuals to monitor mating and movement.本研究旨在明确三项研究目标：1）雌性红腿蛙在每个繁殖季是否会产下多团卵块；2）雄性红腿蛙的交配频率；3）雌性红腿蛙产卵行为的时空分布模式。本研究于每年冬季繁殖季在保护区内的池塘中开展，研究人员会捕捉蛙类并为其植入PIT标签（PIT tag），同时统计卵块的数量。后续研究计划采用无线电标签标记个体，以监测其交配行为与活动轨迹。
