资源简介:
The soil microorganisms encompass a variety of bacterial genera studied for bioremediation, biocatalysis, and biotransformation of chemical substances (inorganic and organic) otherwise toxic to humans and the environment. These microorganisms possess intracellularly and secrete several extracellular enzymes with hydrolytic and oxidative functions, thereby identifying themselves as ideal candidates for cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin degradation, which together constitute lignocellulosic biomass. Transforming this biomass through eco- and bio-sustainable pathways provides a vital alternative to limited fossil fuels as a source of clean, renewable energy with low environmental and health impacts. Utilizing this biomass can minimize, if not completely replace, fossil fuels, as it can be used to produce biofuels such as bioethanol (one of the most widely used biofuels worldwide), biodiesel, biogas (H2), and secondary raw materials like biopolymers, useful for producing other consumer goods. Bacterial chromosome sequencing and subsequent analysis represent an approach that can pave the way for identifying sequences encoding enzymes associated with the degradation of complex carbohydrates and organic acids, thereby enabling the implementation of existing green strategies to valorize lignocellulosic biomass for clean energy production.
