"Machinge in Hoch-Safwa" ("Machinge in High Safwa"). A group of eighteen men. Seven are standing, eleven are sitting. In the middle a man who is sitting higher than the others and who is wearing a hat and some kind of cape (maybe he is a chief). He is holding a stick in his hands. Others are also wearing hats or caps. Some are dressed in draperies, others are wearing shirts, jackets and trousers. In the background a hut with other people next to it.; [66 black-and-white photographs]; Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa, was mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop.
