This dataset contains the simulated variables detailed and analyzed in Mizuochi et al. (2020). Nine variables are provided for two global simulations with the land surface model ORCHIDEE (revision 4783): the forced simulation (forced by prescribed meteorological conditions, and labelled FG3.4783.v3 in this archive) is provided over 1979-2009 at a 0.5°x0.5° resolution; the coupled simulation (coupled to the LMDZ atmospheric model, and labelled CL5.4783.v3 in this archive) is provided over 1984-2014 at a 2.5°x1.25° resolution. This leads to 18 files, one for each variable and each simulation, which all give the time series of monthly mean values at each grid point in netdcf format. The nine variables (with the corresponding label in filenames, and unit) are: surface soil moisture (mrsos, in kg/m²), evapotranspiration (evap, in mm/d), leaf area index (lai, unitless), visible and near-infrared albedo (alb_vis and alb_nir, both unitless), liquid and solid precipitation (rain and snowf, both in mm/d), snowpack water equivalent (snow, in kg/m²), and the fraction of each plant functional type in each grid cell (maxvegetfrac, unitless). The latter variable is constant throughout each year, but varies every year because of land cover change.
