Microbial diversity in different brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) population

The project outlaid to compare the bacterial community structures in three different Brown Planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) populations. The insect population comprised of avirulent population feeding on a susceptible rice variety (TN1), virulent population rearing on a resistance rice variety (PTB 33), and a population rearing on a moderately resistant rice variety (X21301-96) using high-throughput amplicon sequencing. We predict that gut bacterial composition hosted by BPH may vary among different populations based on the resistant or susceptible plant genotypes. Since microbiota harboured in insect gut system can regulate its adaptations depend on host plant feeding. Even the host plants itself can have impact on insect's microbial community structure.
