Movie Research Bibliometrics 2007-2021

The dataset includes bibliometric information of academic papers published in the area of movie research between 2007-2021. A search query was initiated on Scopus – the largest bibliometric database. The following keywords were used to retrieve relevant studies: “cinema”, “film”, “motion picture”, “movie”, “box office”. For the purposes of this review, “stream” and “Netflix” were also added in the keyword list. The search query included journals with ABS 2 stars and above, in the areas of Business, Management & Accounting, Economics, Econometrics & Finance, Decision Sciences, and Psychology. The following information was retrieved for each paper: author details, title, year of publication, journal, ABS stars, total citations and author keywords. After filtering out irrelevant studies, the sample consisted of 744 papers.
